DUQUOIN, Ill. (WGEM) -- For the first time in program history the Central-Southeastern Panthers have advanced to the IHSA football state semifinals, on the heels of a 35-28 win on Saturday at DuQuoin.

The victory was just another broken barrier in what has been a roller coaster season in Camp Point.

It was a defense that stood tall when it mattered the most, and a ground game that produced nearly 300 yards paving the way for Brad Dixon's team.

The Panthers three headed rushing attack that has yet to be contained, and continues to set the tone week-in and week-out.

"Offensively, that is our best defense, and we talked about it earlier in the week," head coach Brad Dixon told WGEM Sports.

"We went on a 95 yard drive in the third quarter and that was kind of a statement drive."
"They can't focus on one person anymore," added senior running back Dalton Heubner.

"They've got all three of us to worry about, and we're just going to keep this thing going, we're doing a great job with it."

"I have so much faith in all of them," said senior quarterback Seth Leezer.

"I know they're going to drive as hard as they possibly can to get that first down, and they're not going to give the ball up."

Even after entering yesterday's game undefeated, the Panthers weren't the favorite to win in the eyes of many.

None of that matters now, because a semifinal game is on the horizon, and the journey to Champaign just one more victory away.

"We don't want to quit yet, we want to take it all the way," said senior running back Doug Weese.

"That was our goal from the beginning and that's still our goal. We all believe it and that's what we want to do."
When quarterback Seth Leezer was asked about the critics, his response was simple.

"We are the real deal."

The Panthers will travel to Belleville Althoff Catholic this coming Saturday for their Class 1A semifinal match-up.

Kickoff is at 2 o'clock PM.
