Missouri officer hurt after shooting self in leg

SIKESTON, Mo. (AP) -- A southeast Missouri police officer is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the leg.

KFVS-TV (http://bit.ly/ZeJHyT ) reports that the shooting happened Sunday in Sikeston. Police responded to a call about shots being fired. Capt. James McMillen says that one of the responding officers unintentionally discharged his gun and shot himself in the leg. His injury is not considered life-threatening.

The officer's name was not released.
