Accident in McDonough Co. leaves two men in hospital


Two men are in the hospital after a two vehicle accident Monday night at approximately 10:30 PM.

Merild Hobbs Jr. of Bardolph, IL, was south bound on County Road 1800 E. approaching US 136 in McDonough County.

Hobbs failed to stop at the stop sign, and ran into a vehicle driven by Charlie Martin of Canton, IL.

The impact ejected Hobbs from his vehicle. Hobbs and Martin sustained moderate injuries.

Two passengers in Martin's vehicle were uninjured.

Hobbs and Martin were taken to the McDonough District Hospital for treatment.

Hobbs was ticketed with disobeying a stop sign, and failure to wear a seatbelt. No alcohol was involved.
