Illinois State Representative Watson resigning in December


(WGEM) - A Republican state congressman in Illinois is stepping down after more than a decade in office.

Representative Jim Watson says he will resign to become executive director of the Illinois Petroleum Council.

Watson's resignation will take effect December 3. The 97th district includes Pike and Morgan counties.

The congressional district county chairman will appoint Watson's replacement.
