Yet another crumbling building in Hannibal is set for demolition. But first, it must be tested for asbestos.
The stability of the building at 801 Union Street was first questioned due to the rotting porch. Because the owners are not able to demolish the building themselves, the city will take action.
Hannibal Building Inspector Joey Burnham says bricks have been coming down and he's looking to tear down the building as soon as the asbestos report comes in.
"If we get a clear report we can get started and get bids out maybe next week. And as soon as that contract is rewarded, we can get on it then," Burnham said.
Burnham hopes crews can finish the demolition before the end of the year.
