Mark Hendrickson has been let go as Western Illinois football coach following a 3-8 season and a six game losing streak to finish the 2012 campaign.
MACOMB, Ill. (WGEM) -- The Western Illinois University athletic department is going in a new direction when it comes to its football program.
WIU athletic director Tim Van Alstine dismissed head coach Mark Hendrickson on Monday following a second consecutive disappointing season.
The Leathernecks finished 3-8 overall and 1-7 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, and for the second straight year the 2012 campaign ended with a six game losing streak.
Hendrickson spent all or part of the last five seasons as head coach compiling a record of 18-32 and the last 14 seasons as a member of the Western coaching staff.
In a short press release issued by the school, "terms of the transition are under discussion. The search for a new head coach will begin immediately."
