Local business get economic boost on "Small Business Saturday"

Many Quincy business owners hoped to see high crowds because of Small Business Day, a day where everyone is encouraged to shop locally.

Celia Neff who owns the gift store Celia's in downtown Quincy said she saw an increase in business today.

Neff offered customers 20 percent off all Christmas items today in honor of the day.

Some customers said they made it a point to come out and shop at small businesses because they feel it is important for the local economy.

Neff said having designated days like this for small businesses gives her store a boost.

"It's getting tougher everyday with the economy so having days like this that specialize for the small businesses and ask for them to come support us is really important for those of us who have small businesses downtown here and we really appreciate that," said Neff.
