The pigeon problem continues in Hannibal, but a solution may be in sight.
Tuesday night the Hannibal City Council voted to hire Big River Pest Control.
City manager Jeff LaGarce says the company would trap the pigeons - and take them to a local group that actually breeds pigeons.
That way, they wouldn't be harmed. Proposals to poison the pigeons got some negative feedback.
The cost to trap the birds is estimated to be $5500 dollars, and LaGarce says it's the best of both worlds. "It accomplished two things. It allows us to get rid of the pigeon menace, but at the same time it didn't create an outcry because they're going to be taken out of town live and are going to be taken to this user live, and the user needs them live," he said.
The company says it will take around sixty days to take care of the problem in Hannibal.
