Investigation continues in Burlington house fire

BURLINGTON, Ia. (WGEM) -

The Burlington Fire Department responded to a house fire at 307 Summer Street in Burlington shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday.

The firefighters found heavy fire in the rear of the 2-story wood frame house.

The house was vacant and suffered extensive damage to the rear porch with some heat and smoke damage throughout.

One firefighter was injured while fighting the fire. He was treated and released from Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Burlington Police and Fire Departments.
