Forget sleeping in, more than two thousand people laced up their shoes and decided to walk or run in the 33rd annual YMCA Turkey Run Quincy.
"It's a great tradition. I have family here in town this year which is great, and they're all participating as well. So, it's just a really great way to start our holiday."
"It's a tradition of all the QND people to just come and run this race together and bond."
And they did come together, in fact, YMCA Sports and Special Events Director Kyle Haeberlin says this is the biggest turnout they've ever seen.
"Our numbers are so huge this year, we're excited to see the actual turn-out. I'm looking forward to the gauds of people to walk down Maine Street"
And, those big numbers translate into big support for local youth programs.
"That'll help with child-care, after-school programs, preschool, sports and all the above."
And, as runner Amy Schmuck says, it's also a fun way to burn off some extra calories before heading home to a big Thanksgiving dinner.
"It kind of justifies that extra slice pie, so it just makes you feel good to start the day off like that."
For the second year in a row, the Turkey Run enjoyed a record turnout.
