Police warn holiday gifts in your house could attract burglars


Quincy Police are warning tonight say all the extra merchandise in your house from Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Can actually draw burglars to your home.

So it's important not to put empty boxes out by the curb, because this advertises to burglars what you bought.

And many people put up their Christmas tree right after they put down the turkey, and police say depending where you put your Christmas tree, that could also draw burglars to your home.

"If you have a Christmas tree by a front window in your house, it might not be the best place to put it, somebody can look in and see the presents there, also always make sure your windows and doors are locked," said Officer Justin Ebbing, with the Quincy Police department. 

Officer Ebbing says that putting lights In your house on a timer will Also help deter burglars from targeting your home.
