Adams County Sheriff's Office cuts three positions

Posted:
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

The Adams County Sheriff's Office is already feeling the affects of the recently approved county budget.

Sheriff Brent Fischer confirmed that three positions in his office have been laid off due to budget cuts. These cuts include an animal warden, a clerical position and a maintenance position.

All three positions are full-time.

"This is a tough time to get through, financially," Sheriff Fischer said. "But, that's where we're at, and we're still committed to doing a good job in those areas."

Fischer added that the maintenance position was actually a retirement that started back in March. The other two positions will stay in place through the end of this year.

"Nobody likes doing this," Sheriff Fischer said. "I had to do some cutbacks in 2002. It's never easy."
