Summer drought increases chances for water main breaks

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

This summer's drought could be causing another issue with your water; more service interruptions because of water main breaks.

Quincy Utilities Director David Kent says across the Midwest, there have been twice as many water main breaks than an average year.

He says the dry ground is expanding and constricting around the pipes causing more issues.
