A busy intersection was shut down in Macomb for several hours Tuesday after a semi truck carrying pigs tipped over.
It happened at 3:41 p.m. at the intersection of US 67/North Lafayette and Calhoun Street, near the train station.
The driver says he was making a turn, when he felt the load of pigs shift, causing the truck to flip on its side.
Several of the 155 pigs were killed in the crash.
The intersection was partially closed until late Tuesday evening while crews transferred the pigs and cleaned up.
The truck was on its way to a slaughterhouse in Beardstown.
Not a single pig got loose after the accident.
