QHS students donate food to Quanada

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM)  -- As the holiday season approaches, the need at local food pantries is greater than ever.

Wednesday, a big donation showed up at Quanada, thanks to students from Quincy Senior High.  The National Honor Society has been collecting non-perishable food items for the past month, as part of what they called "Non-perishable November."  The group's president says this is something they all wanted to do, to give something back to the community.

Alexandra Dietrich says, "Personally, I knew that whenever I took over this club, I knew that food pantries in Quincy were really hurting for items. So this is just something that I really wanted to do for the community, and I thought that Quanada would be a good place to do it."

The students donated about 1300 items.
