GRIGGSVILLE, Ill. (WGEM) -

Investigators are in Griggsville searching for the cause of a Wednesday night house fire that claimed most of a family's belongings.

Griggsville Fire Chief Larry Bradshaw says his department responded to 515 S. Union St. at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday to find a one-story home on fire with heavy fire coming from the back side of the home.

"There were ceilings over ceilings," Bradshaw said. "It spread and took a while to get found and for us to put out."

Bradshaw said the home suffered moderate to major damage, while the contents of the home are a total loss.

Four people, including two children, lived in the home. There were no injuries.
