QPS superintendent candidates to be interviewed this weekend

The search for a new Quincy superintendent is kicking into high gear with a special board meeting tonight.

Quincy Public School Board President Bill Daniels says the board is holding the meeting to meet with School Exec Connect, the firm hired by the district to help with the superintendent search. After the firm's representatives speak with board members briefly, the meeting will go into closed session to discuss backgrounds and profiles of the candidates.

Several candidates will then be interviewed Friday and Saturday.

"The hope is to narrow the list down to three finalists that we'll interview at a later date," Daniels said.

Daniels added that the interviews this weekend won't be too in depth.

"I would call them abbreviated interviews," Daniels said. "It'll give us a chance to meet them in person, and it gives them a chance to ask us questions, as well."

A specific date for the final interviews was not provided by Daniels and he said only the finalists names will be made public.
