QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- A local organization honored foster families with a dinner Friday evening.
The Quincy Exchange Club hosted its annual "Give a Kid a Chance" dinner at the Quincy Senior Center. This is the 8th year for The event and more than 130 people attended. Officials with the local DCFS office say there are about 50 foster families in the Adams, Hancock and Pike County area but they're always looking for more people to get involved.
Kevin Blickhan is a supervisor with DCFS. He says, "The department is focusing on that right now in terms of recruitment efforts and talking to different groups to find more families. The need is there, there's no question about it."
After the dinner Santa stopped by to visit the kids and drop off a few presents.
