DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Iowa alcohol regulators are trying to make it easier for people enjoying a drink to determine how potent their beverage is.
The Des Moines Register reports that the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division has created a new mobile website that helps people estimate how much alcohol is in their drink.
The website, http://www.iowaabd.com/files/websites/calcohol/index.html , uses the size of a drink and the proof figure listed on the container to determine the alcohol content.
Agency spokeswoman Tonya Dusold says there are many flavored malt beverages on the market that look like beer but contain significantly higher alcohol content.
Regulators want people to understand that one drink can be more than enough when it's a potent drink.
