Quincy Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to pack Christmas baskets

If you are looking to spread some holiday cheer this season, one local organization is looking for you.

The Salvation Army is in need of volunteers to pack Christmas baskets that will be distributed to less fortunate families around Christmas time.

The baskets are packed with food items for a Christmas dinner or toys, and organizers say they are appreciated by the families that receive them.

"Usually the families that come and pick up the baskets are so grateful to have that food. We also do a dinner on Christmas day for those who don't want to cook at home," said Salvation Army development director Patty Douglas.

If you would like to volunteer you are encouraged to just show up at the former Quincy Discount Carpet building at 224 S. 8th St. at 9 a.m. on December 18th.
