Things are back to normal at Pittsfield's South Elementary School, after the building was placed on a "Code Yellow" lockdown status Thursday due to an off campus domestic situation, administrators say.
Pikeland Superintendent Paula Hawley says the district placed the elementary school into a "Code Yellow" status at 9:45 a.m.
"It was due to a domestic situation that was happening off campus, away from the school," Hawley said. "There were never any threats to staff or students at the school."
Hawley said a "Code Yellow" status means the schools inside and outside doors were locked, while classes continued normally within the school. Law enforcement was also present at the school during the lockdown.
Hawley said the situation was deemed over at 11:30 a.m.
