A state of the art music performance venue on the campus of Quincy University is set to open this Spring.
Right now, crews are renovating the B building on the North Campus. The project was made possible by a $1 million gift by the Niemann Foundation.
A 270 seat performance space, a formal atrium, and a grand two story foyer are just some of the new additions. QU Band Director Bill Machold says this not only benefits their current students, but also future students.
"You have to have somewhere to perform that music. And over the years QU really hasn't had that and so it's going to be very nice to have that. It will help with recruiting, it will help with the moral of the students and just overall help the program," Machold said.
Machold says everything is on schedule for a free public concert and grand opening on March 16.
