C.D. Davidsmeyer Elected to State Representative

Posted:
The 97th-100th district will soon have a new State Representative.  The nine Republican County Chairmen interviewed six final candidates Sunday and selected C.D. Davidsmeyer of Jacksonville to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of Rep. Jim Watson.

Morgan County Republican Chair Steve Hardin said there were many good candidates and there was  a thorough review and discussion. " I am pleased that C.D. was chosen. We have had the good fortune to have had outstanding State Representatives such as  Rep Watson for the past 11 years and Rep. Ryder for his 18 years.  C.D.   has the qualifications  and potential to continue this tradition"

C.D. Davidsmeyer, a Jacksonville native, is Vice President and operations manager at IRC, Inc. a  longtime family owned business in Jacksonville.

He has served as 4th Ward alderman on the Jacksonville City Council since being appointed to fill a vacancy in February 2008, and elected to a full term in 2009. He  currently serves as Chair of the important Finance Committee .

He had the opportunity to serve on the staff of Illinois Congressman John Shimkus in Washington D.C. from 2003 until returning to Jacksonville in the summer of 2006 to join his family's business.

This week Davidsmeyer will be officially sworn in to fill the remainder of the term of the 97th district in the  current 97th General Assembly which will include session days scheduled for Jan 3 to 8.

On January 9 he will be sworn in for a  two year term for the new 100th district of the new 98th General Assembly.

In the coming weeks Davidsmeyer  will be touring the district to visit all communities in the district.
