QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -
More people are riding the rails this holiday season as Amtrak reports a record number of passengers over Thanksgiving.
Amtrak carried 737,000 passengers over the six day travel period, up nearly 2 percent since last year.
There was an even bigger jump in the Quincy to Chicago route, with a 15 percent increase from last Thanksgiving.
Amtrak officials say eTicketing is one reason for the increase, making it easy to print their own boarding tickets or have their smartphones scanned by conductors.
