Highland High School band chosen to perform at Gator Bowl Parade

The Highland High School Marching Highlanders are practicing hard for a big gig.

They've been selected to compete and perform at the Gator Bowl Parade in Jacksonville, Florida on New Year's Day.

Only a handful of high school bands across the country are chosen, but this isn't the first time they've played on the national stage.

Two years ago, they traveled to Washington, D.C. for the 4th of July Independence Day Parade.

But senior band members say this is different.

"I think everyone's pretty excited. I mean, we get to go to Florida, who wouldn't be excited for that?" said drum major Kelli Adams.

The band and its director Ryan Christian have held fundraisers all year to help pay for the trip.

The Gator Bowl will be streamed live on New Year's Day, click here for a link to that website.
