The new Speaker of the House in Missouri is making a swing through the state before the next session starts in January.
Speaker Tim Jones was in Hannibal Thursday, where he spoke with business owners about some of the top issues facing lawmakers.
Jones is visiting 20 cities in four days in hopes of hearing what issues are also important to residents.
"It's a listening and policy tour, and those items are equally important," Jones said. "A lot of politicians talk about well I'm going to go out and listen to what the people have to say, but I don't know that many politicians do it to this extent."
The Missouri legislature begins its 2013 session on January 9.
