Three vehicles lost control and crashed on an icy Interstate overpass Tuesday morning west of Barry.
Illinois State Police says Garland Smith, of Palmyra, was traveling eastbound on I-72 and was about a mile west of Barry when he hit some ice , lost control and hit a concrete bridge rail on the north side of the road.
Approximately 11 minutes later, Janice Durbin, of Hannibal, also lost control of her vehicle and struck the bridge railing on both sides of the road before coming to a stop.
Immediately after Durbin collided with the bridge, police say Jason Bradd was driving his flatbed trailer eastbound when he tried to avoid Durbin's vehicle and struck the bridge railing, as well. The trailer then struck Durbin's vehicle and Bradd's truck jack-knifed, blocking both lanes.
Traffic was backed up approximately two-and-a-half miles for about an hour.
Smith and the passenger in the truck were transported to Illini Community Hospital with minor injuries. Durbin also had minor injuries but took herself to Hannibal Regional Hospital.
