Cold weather safety tips

As the cold weather approaches, everyone needs to take extra precautions in the frigid temperatures.

Be sure to dress in several layers of lightweight clothing, which will you keep you warmer than just a heavy winter coat.

Also be sure to take frequent breaks and stay hydrated, especially if working outdoors.

When at home, there are precautions you need to take as well.

If the power goes out, it is better to not use candles. A flashlight is the best tool to use.

If you have a generator, be sure to use it properly. Never use one inside your home-only in the basement or garage. Also, do not hook up the generator directly to your house's wiring.

To prevent frozen pipes, open your cabinet doors to let warm air circulate around your water pipes.

Also, be sure to remember your pets. If it gets to cold, bring them inside if possible, and make sure their water is not frozen.
