McDonough Co. Sheriff's Office working to pair drivers up with towed vehicles

As crews in McDonough County begin removing stranded vehicles off county roads and US 67 following Thursday's winter weather, part of the task involves finding owners of those stranded vehicles.

McDonough County Sheriff Rick VanBrooker says that the department is working to find owners of stranded vehicles as they prepare to tow them.

"We're trying to match people up with their cars as they go," VanBrooker said.

However, if that is not possible, owners are advised to contact the McDonough County Sheriff's Office for information about their towed vehicle.

"If we get into a situation where we have to tow a vehicle without the owner present, that information will be brought (to the Sheriff's Office)," VanBrooker said.

Information about all towed and stranded vehicles will be filtered through the Sheriff's Office, VanBrooker said.
