If you do plan on drinking some alcohol this Christmas Eve, the Quincy Police Department is warning you not to get behind the wheel.
QPD says they will be putting extra officers on the streets tonight to watch out for people driving under the influence, thanks in large part to a step grant they received.
Police say if you do decide to have a few drinks this Christmas Eve, don't get behind the wheel, have someone else drive you.
"The best thing you can do if you plan on going out to the bars, and going to friend's houses and having some drinks, try to have a designated driver or call a taxi that kind of thing, if you're feeling the effects of alcohol in any way you shouldn't be driving a vehicle," said Quincy Police Officer, Paul Hodges.
And if you are caught drinking and driving, it will cost you, as fines for a first time offender can range from $500 to $1000.
