Are you making a New Years resolution this year? Have you done it every year with no luck?
Very soon, many of us will make a mental checklist of the things we want to change, and some may not follow through.
Ellen Rigor, a therapist at Cornerstone shared some helpful advice.
Whether your resolution is to get healthier, quit smoking, get your finances in order, or just to get organized, Rigor says small steps are the keys to get going.
And just because you don't feel like following through every time, do not take a break.
"A break like that especially early on in developing the routine will really interfere with being able to keep that resolution," says Rigor.
Rigor points out that it's important not to let these little mis-steps get in the way of progress.
She says you've got to just push through and keep going if you really want to make a change.
She also points out that sometimes people just make commitments that are just too big to keep.
