The death of two Marion County residents found in their home Sunday afternoon is being treated as a murder-suicide, according to Sheriff Jimmy Shinn.
Deputies were dispatched to a home on Highway A in rural Marion County and found two people dead in the master bedroom from apparent gunshot wounds. The bodies were identified as David E Lavingon and Kathy Jo Lavingon, and they lived at the residence alone.
Sheriff Shinn said no foul play is suspected and his office is not seeking any suspects as of Monday afternoon.
Shinn added that no motives have been uncovered, and the investigation will continue.
The last known contact with the couple was Christmas Day with friends and family. The sheriff's office has found no other communication after that day.
