A Barry woman has died after a collision between a semi truck and a SUV Monday near Pittsfield.
Pike County Sheriff Paul Petty says Melissa D. Warning, 44, of Barry, was pronounced dead at the scene after a SUV she was driving was struck by a jackknifed semi truck on Illinois 106, just 2 miles west of the IL 106/US 54 junction south of Pittsfield.
Petty says the semi truck was traveling westbound when it ran off the highway, then reentered the road before jackknifing.
The accident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Pike County Coroner. Pittsfield Fire & Rescue, Pittsfield City Police and Pike County EMS assisted at the scene.
