Clark County child fatally injured in accident

CLARK COUNTY, Mo. (WGEM) -

A 3-year-old Kahoka boy died Monday morning after the car he was in overturned three miles west of Wayland.

Lora K. Jacobson, 31, was driving eastbound on US 136 at approximately 9:55 a.m. when she ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The 2003 Ford Focus then overturned before coming to a stop on its wheels.

Jacobson's son, Sawyer, was pronounced dead at the scene by Clark County Coroner Edwin Wilson. Sawyer was properly secured in a front-facing child safety seat, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Jacobson and 1-year-old son, Lance, were transported by ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital.
