Holidays and Snow slows down River Skate turnout

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

As the New Year began, some took to the synthetic ice in Quincy.  Co-Owner Marion Dye said the business stayed open during the holidays to give people an opportunity to try the new skating rink.

Dye said there have been big crows ahead of the holiday, plus the played a big part in their turnout.

"I think it's brought a little bit less just because it's colder and the driving conditions aren't as great, so I think more people tend to stay home," Dye said.

Dye said the extended hours have helped to spread out the crowds during the holiday season.
