Adult Center opens in Hannibal

Families who care for elderly relatives or have adult children with disabilities now have a place to turn for support.

The Activity Center for Elderly Services, or ACES, opened its doors today after years of planning and renovations.  The building is open for anyone over the age of 18 who's unable to live by themselves.  Program Director Carla Maple says this is something needed not just in Hannibal but the whole Northeast Missouri Region.

"There's a lot of elderly people that live with their children and those children are still of working age so they still have to have someplace to go during the daytime," she said.

ACES can serve up to 19 people at one time and does accept Medicaid.  It's located at 6th and Church in Hannibal.
