Bridal Salons Seeing Boost in Business

There's one type of business that always perks up after the start of the new year and that's bridal salons.

"I Do Bridal Shoppe" owner Cheri Shaffer says they have a lot of girls coming in right now planning summer and fall weddings. She says many of them got engaged over Christmas or the New Year's.

Shaffer says it's a good time for those brides-to-be to get shopping, because they recommend ordering their gowns six months ahead of time, to allow for shipping and alterations.

And she says there's some new trends for 2013. "Lace is becoming really very good, it's coming back a lot. Every girl has their own idea of what they want to look like, as far as a princess, some want the big ball gown, some want more sleek, more fitted, usually always a train," she said.

Shaffer says they plan on holding a dress show on January 26 for interested brides.
