Quincy murder suspect makes first court appearance

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

The Quincy man charged in the Jan. 3 shooting death of Terry L. Williams made his first court appearance Monday morning.

State's Attorney Jon Barnard says Vincent B. Carter appeared in from of Adams County Circuit Judge Robert Adrian and requested a public defender. Carter's request was granted, and Holly Henze was assigned to represent him.

A preliminary hearing for Carter has been set for Jan. 23.
