Union workers at Pinnacle Foods in Ft. Madison move to strike

More than 400 workers at Pinnacle Foods in Fort Madison have moved to strike.

The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union voted Sunday to authorize a strike to protest the company's plan to eliminate their pension plan.

No strike date has been set yet.

UFCW Local 617 President Darin Boatman says they are "serious about protecting the middle class. Our employees work hard to make this company profitable, we want to share in that success."

Boatman says no negotiation sessions have been scheduled yet.

The Pinnacle plant in Fort Madison makes canned food products.
