Tanning Salons keeping close eye on laws impacting their stores

Another Illinois city has banned people under the age of 18 from going to tanning salons.  That law took effect at the first of the year in Springfield.  

While it's still legal to tan when you're younger than 18 in Quincy, certain businesses are concerned this may be a trend.  But Tropical Tanning owner Patrick Penrose doesn't think Quincy will pass a similar ban.  He believes the current law is good enough.

 

"With under 18 tanning, parents permission is required in the state of Illinois. I don't see a problem with that because parents do have some rights that they can control their kids a little bit," Penrose said. 

The current law in Illinois bans anyone under 14 from tanning.
