2012 City of Quincy Arts Award winners announced

Those who keep the arts alive in Quincy were honored Tuesday.

The 2012 City of Quincy Arts Awards recognized outstanding artists, organizations, businesses and volunteers.

The winners were Ann Miller Titus, Midsummer Arts Faire, People's Prosperity Bank and Vicki Dempsey.

Each winner was presented with an original print from a young art student.

Organizers say the arts have been a part of Quincy for decades, and they're making sure future generations have opportunities as well.

"We have various funding grants that we help with the parochial and public schools as well as the 65 organizations that are a part of the Quincy Society of Fine Arts," said QSFA President Joe Bocke.

This year, two special lifetime achievement awards were handed out.

Jim Mentesti and Rich and Connie Niemann were honored Tuesday.
