Repairs underway to Florence Bridge

FLORENCE, Ill. (WGEM) -

Repairs are underway to the Florence Bridge in eastern Pike County.

Illinois Department of Transportation representatives say a contractor is on site, with barges in the water and cranes working on the bridge.

The Florence Bridge was closed unexpectedly back in June when structural issues were found during a routine inspection.

IDOT is still on schedule to have the bridge reopened by the spring planting season.
