Hannibal's Mark Twain Museum director leaves one Twain home for another

HANNIBAL, Mo. (AP) -- The executive director of the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum is leaving Hannibal, but she's not leaving Mark Twain.

Cindy Lovell is moving from one Twain home to another, accepting a job as executive director of the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, Conn. Her last day in Hannibal is March 1 and she begins work in Hartford on March 4.

Twain grew up in Hannibal and based some of his most famous works on the town, the Mississippi River and the people he knew in the northeast Missouri community.

He lived at the Hartford home for 17 years and wrote some of his most famous books there, including "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," "Life on the Mississippi" and "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn."
