Work to begin on lighting two sections of Highway 61 in Northeast Missouri

(WGEM) -- MoDOT is making even more improvements to an interchange plagued by accidents last year.

Work is underway on lighting repairs to the entrance ramp to Highway 61 North at the 24/61 interchange near Taylor.

Traffic will be down to one lane during the day near the Canton exit.

New pavement, new lane striping and bigger signs were put in late last year to help improve safety.

And on Wednesday, traffic will be down to one lane on Highway 61 at the Huck Finn Shopping Center in Hannibal.

MoDOT crews will be doing preparation work to move the street lighting just north of the Stardust Intersection.

Work is expected to be complete by the end of the day.
