Quincy business owners hope "Second Saturdays" bring attention to downtown shops

You've probably heard of small business Saturday, but now there is another day targeted at mom and pop shops known as Second Saturdays in Quincy.

The event is part of a campaign launched by the Historic Quincy Business District to get shoppers to the downtown area.

Some businesses offered special deals today for the occasion.

Businesses owners say they think shopping downtown is a unique experience.

"I always think the atmosphere when you go to the big stores, it's great going there, but downtown Quincy you get a little more one on one with the customers and talking with the customers and even sharing different stories and things like that. It's kind of a more intimate setting," said Michael Smith who owns Consignor Depot.

Second Saturdays are planned for every month in the future in downtown Quincy.
