Quincy man accused of sexually abusing girl for five years

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

A Quincy man is accused of sexually abusing a young girl over a period of five years.

James Coons, 61, is charged with predatory criminal sexual abuse.

Police say starting in 2002, Coons preyed on a girl who was seven years old.

Authorities say the abuse continued until 2007.

Quincy police started investigating after the girl contacted them last year.

Coons is set to appear in court Tuesday.
