Demolition to begin at abandoned Hannibal wastewater plant

HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -

Demolition will soon begin on Hannibal's abandoned wastewater treatment plant.

City Manager Jeff LaGarce, says the facility, located where the Bear Creek meets the Mississippi River, is a safety hazard.

After the buildings are torn down, the city will decide what to do with the property.

Hannibal's street department has already started prep work at the site.
