Hannibal City Council Tables Decision to Sell Building Again

The Hannibal City Council hoped to sell the former Murphy motors building at Tuesday's City Council meeting, but they tabled the decision again.

City attorney James Lemon said he received changes to the contract just minutes before the meeting and didn't have enough time to go over them.  He said despite this being tabled twice, he's still optimistic the sale will pass.

"The city would be happy to sell the property to Mr. Martin and be happy to move forward, but the city wants to make sure that they protect this property. They secure certain rights in the property for not just what's going on today but say 20, 30 and 40 years down the line," Lemon said.

The city council hopes to make a decision at the next city council meeting.
