Oakley Lindsay Center Getting New Floor

The Oakley-Lindsay Center was the base of operations during sandbagging efforts for the flood of 2008, now it's fixing a problem that was created that summer.

Sandbagging efforts during the flood of 2008 damaged the finish on the floor.

Center officials say they aren't eligible for federal assistance through FEMA, so they'll be paying for the floor with money from a 2009 Capital Improvement Bond, and a small reimbursement from the government.

"We floated a bond here some time ago and at least we have 50 thousand from that. The others? I don't know where it will come from. That's our problem, we'll have to work that out when we know what the total cost will be," said board member Charles Doan.

Doan says they are taking bids now and the floor project will be completed as soon as possible.
