The Marion County Sheriff's Office says there is no new information Friday morning in the search for a missing Palmyra man.

Authorities say 21-year-old Christopher Witt has been missing from his rural Palmyra home since Saturday night.

And with every day that passes police and family members grow more worried because he could be a danger to himself.

Investigators at the Marion County Sheriff's Office say that just Wednesday night they even had a helicopter up in the air looking for Christopher.

WGEM spoke with family members Thursday who say they are desperate to find him, and now they're asking for your help.

"He is extremely creative he is a lot of fun very gentle, very loyal hugs his momma every time he sees me," said Marla Sparks, Christopher Witt's mother.

Sparks fought back tears talking about her son.

Sparks says she last heard from her son through a seemingly normal text message.

"It was a regular conversation he was to eat dinner with us that evening I called to check in on him and what time were we to pick him up and he said he didn't feel well and he would do it on Monday," said Sparks.

And then when he didn't respond for days, she began to worry.

"When he didn't return any text message on Monday, that's when I came to check on him and found him missing," said Sparks.

Authorities say Witt's 2006 Red Ford Fusion with a spare tire on the front passenger side was also gone.

And after nearly a week of searching, authorities say he could be anywhere.

"Judging from yesterday based on the air support that the highway patrol provided it's looking like he's not in this county," said Investigator Tyler Wheeler with the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

The family says Christopher left his cell phone and wallet in his home, which they say is very unusual. They also found blood, and now they're concerned he could be hurt.

"We hope he's out there we hope he's somewhere we know he was injured when he left the house and hopefully he is getting treatment somewhere and we just haven't found him yet," said Christopher's uncle, Gary Witt.

Authorities say Witt has a history of mental illness and is believed to be off his medication, but they say he's not dangerous.

Witt's mother is urging the community to help find her son.

"If you see him, please contact the authorities, please, please, his family misses him," said Sparks.

Christopher Witt drives a 2006 Red Ford Fusion with Missouri license plate: DG1-M6X.

Authorities say if you think you've located Christopher or his vehicle contact the Marion County Sheriff's Office at 573-769-2077 or 573-221-6400.
